Oppo - I am looking at moving somewhere near Tacoma T/X Pro access cab Washington. Is there anything I need to look out for or any reason to stay away?

Make sure you have a reasonable commute to where you work WITHOUT taking I-5. Unless you work 3:00AM to 11:00AM or something. (Also 410? too, The one that intersects I-5 and goes to Puayllup. That shit’s crazy.)
Also ask yourself how ok you are living around crackheads. It’ll save you a hell of a lot of rent/mortgage.

Actually Puyallup is high on the list of places. Ten minutes from work on surface roads :)

There’s a wonderful car museum next to the Tacoma dome. Where are you looking in Tacoma and where are you coming from? Northside is nice, but I only go there because my sister and her family is there.

Tacoma is getting better, livability wise. There has been a considerable amount of rejuvenation put into the city over the last few years. That being said there are still areas that are high crime and places I wouldn’t want to be out past midnight. I see you also mentioned Puyallup. Great city. Avoid Fife it’s getting rough over there despite a lot of new houses going in the surrounding area is little sketchy. One thing I will say is that I-5 in Tacoma is perpetually under construction. So live close to work.

Where do you currently live? I hope you like water - because it just keeps falling from the sky.

Honestly it’s overblown. Yeah it rains a lot fall-spring, but its mostly slow mist and tolerable. And the summers are absolutely perfect (say May thru Sept)- that’s what makes it all worthwhile and nobody tells you. Looong days, beautiful sunshine, high in the 80s, maybe 90s, cool nights, no humidity. Doesn’t get any better.

We’re coming from Denver and looking, realistically, as Puyallup being as far west as I’d like to go. Ideally I think Buckley area would be good. Far enough away from the city so we have land and stuff, close enough that I can go into the office, if need be, without too much bullshittery.
That being said I am entertaining Gig Harbor as well

I’ve lived in Tacoma the last 1.5 years (I actually moved out here from Denver) and just bought a house. Tacoma is a great city depending on your neighborhood. Some are very sketchy but most are nice. Definitely explore any neighborhood you are thinking about. Puyallup is a little nicer I think. Downtown Tacoma has some great shops and breweries. I saw you mention Gig Harbor in another response. Gig Harbor is awesome(pretty much all the small towns on the peninsula are), but you would have to pay a $6 toll every time you want to leave to Tacoma/Seattle/anywhere.
The bad.
1. The housing market is stupid hot right now, be prepared to pay over asking price. Finding a rental house is difficult too(apartments aren’t bad).
2. There is a huge homeless/heroin/crackhead problem pretty much everywhere over the PNW.
3. There is no income tax but King and Pierce counties will tax the crap out of everything you do/buy/sell and then tax you some more.
4. Drivers are generally better than Denver but traffic is much worse.
5. Car culture is great, lots of events/shows/meets. ( not a bad thing but I was making a list)
